Is The Viper about to strike?
WWE continues to drop some big hints that we are heading towards a Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes match.
But not just any match—this rivalry is set to become a heated feud that could be very personal.
Here’s how the drama has played out over the past several weeks and what it could mean for the future.
Before diving into the latest SmackDown episode, let’s rewind a bit.
Leading up to the Money in the Bank event in Toronto, WWE set the stage for something big. On a memorable episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens came out fuming over their issues with The Bloodline.
Cody’s words during this segment seemed to light a fuse. He questioned why he was dealing with The Bloodline instead of defending his WWE Championship.
Orton’s reaction? A revealing look that hinted at underlying motivations.
Fast forward to Money in the Bank and the six-man tag team action with Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, and Cody Rhodes against The Bloodline.
Cody lost, putting Orton in a frustrating position where he had no choice but to continue supporting his friend.
Perhaps Orton is starting to get annoyed at having to cover for Cody time and again?
This brings us to the latest SmackDown.
Randy Orton repeatedly professed his loyalty to Cody, mentioning how he would always have his friend’s back, but his eyes told another story.
The camera captured Orton’s sidelong glances at Cody’s WWE title, setting the scene for the audience for the eventual feud.
The invisible wall between them was not just physical but symbolic—the championship between them was also a metaphorical gulf for two friends.
During the episode, Orton’s encouragement led Cody to confront Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline, resulting in Cody getting tied up and Orton paying the price with a brutal beatdown.
The Bloodline’s attack left Orton with potential career-threatening injuries, raising questions about his future.
Could this be the last straw for Orton, who might finally be tired of taking the hits for Cody?
If so, the stage is set for an explosive feud.
Cody himself has acknowledged he wouldn’t be where he is without Orton, and losing him would cut deeply. The animosity is brewing, and WWE is laying the groundwork for Orton to betray Cody, signaling the end of their friendship.
Fans are speculating when Orton will turn—perhaps at a major event like SummerSlam or after Roman Reigns returns.
Some even think Bad Blood in October would be the perfect platform for their eventual showdown.
All these scenarios point to one inevitable conclusion: The Viper is poised to strike.
Randy Orton’s ominous statement, “Everything comes to an end,” could spell the end of Cody Rhodes’ championship reign.
Cody’s mistake was trusting The Viper, a fatal flaw that WWE fans know all too well.

This is the moment we’ve all been anticipating: the return of Roman Reigns to WWE.
The expectation is high that Roman will make his comeback at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, but the burning question remains:
How does WWE execute his epic return?
There’s only one chance to make this return unforgettable, and it must be done perfectly to etch it into WWE history.
With numerous potential storylines, let’s explore some intriguing scenarios for The Tribal Chief’s return.
There’s a prevailing fear from some fans about scenario number one, where Solo Sikoa could leave SummerSlam as the WWE Undisputed Champion.
The assumption is that Solo will challenge Cody Rhodes for the championship in the main event.
However, this outcome might trigger significant online criticism, especially since it would mean Solo pinning Cody Rhodes in back-to-back Premium Live Events (PLEs).
While this makes sense within the storyline, considering Solo’s quest to reclaim the locker room for the Bloodline since WrestleMania 40, it’s unlikely that WWE will take this route.
Instead, Solo can chase the title without winning it now, allowing Cody to avoid back-to-back defeats and preserving his championship reign.
This scenario sees Cody Rhodes overcoming the Bloodline, likely through botched interference, to retain the WWE Championship against Solo.
This outcome would ignite The Bloodline’s fury, leading to a post-match assault on Cody.
The narrative could feature brutal attacks, with even the most dangerous member, Jacob Fatu, likely involved.
At this point, Cody must fend for himself, especially if Randy Orton and Kevin Owens are incapacitated. This could be the moment for Sami Zayn and Jey Uso to re-enter the story.
Sami Zayn, currently holding the Intercontinental Championship, could lose it at SummerSlam, setting up his involvement in this angle. Jey Uso’s storyline involvement might also be pivotal, considering his past connections to Cody Rhodes.
If these allies are in the building, it would make sense for them to intervene, especially if Orton and Owens are taken out of the equation.
While some speculate about Randy Orton turning on Cody Rhodes to cost him the title (which would, in turn, help The Bloodline), this doesn’t align with the current narrative.
The Bloodline has been trying to destroy Orton, so his sudden alliance with them would be implausible.
Thus, this idea is better left untouched in favor of more coherent storytelling for what they want to achieve moving forward.
Ultimately, the primary objective is to set the stage for Roman Reigns’ return.
If Cody Rhodes is on the brink of devastating defeat, the crowd’s chant “We Want Roman” will simmer to a boiling point.
What better way to halt The Bloodline than with the highly-anticipated return of Paul Heyman and the unmistakable entrance of Roman Reigns?
Ideally, Roman Reigns should return alongside Paul Heyman and possibly Jimmy Uso.
The once-united trio, now scorned by The New Bloodline, would make a dramatic comeback. This setup creates the perfect springboard to build towards the War Games at Survivor Series, paving the way for future juicy narratives.
In the months leading to Survivor Series, Heyman could recruit Jey and Zayn back into the fold.
That allows WWE the opportunity to craft stories filled with tension, betrayal, and temporary alliances, adding layers of intrigue to the biggest storyline in the company.
In this prediction, Cody Rhodes retains his championship against Solo Sikoa.
The Bloodline viciously attacks him, and despite the best efforts from the likes of Orton and Owens, the true comeback emerges with Jimmy and Heyman leading the way for the triumphant return of Roman Reigns.
As the crowd explodes, the closing visual should feature both versions of The Bloodline standing tall, setting up the next chapter of this thrilling saga.

The John Cena farewell tour is officially on.
As we know, John Cena announced his retirement at WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto, setting up a big 2025 for Cena and many others in the WWE.
With 30 to 40 dates mentioned for Cena, it doesn’t necessarily mean 30 to 40 matches, but he will have quite a few matches before retiring, which seems likely by the end of next year.
The burning question remains: who will Cena face on his retirement tour, and more importantly, who will be his final opponent in WWE?
Let’s explore some potential candidates for Cena’s last match ever, which could be in December of next year or even later.
There are several worthy choices.
One option is to have Cena face an up-and-comer like Bron Breakker or Carmelo Hayes.
These wrestlers have significant futures ahead of them in WWE, and a match with Cena could propel them further.
However, since we are predicting a year and a half in advance, it’s difficult to guarantee where these wrestlers will stand by then.
While it’s a possibility, it’s not guaranteed that these matches would offer the most impact for a final John Cena bout.
Cody Rhodes represents another compelling option.
While some see it as a potential “passing of the torch” moment, it’s arguable that Cody has already established himself as “the guy” in WWE.
Rhodes winning the championship and his involvement with Cena at WrestleMania 40 make it seem like the torch has already been passed.
However, there’s something intriguing about a matchup between these two during Cena’s retirement tour, highlighting their respective eras in WWE.
Yet, when considering finality, a Cena vs. Rhodes match may not be the strongest option.
CM Punk has arguably been one of John Cena’s best opponents.
Their matches, especially the Money in the Bank 2011 classic, are some of WWE’s most memorable bouts. Additionally, Punk recently hinted at a desire to wrestle Cena again, making it a feasible contender.
Despite their iconic past, the concern lies in whether they can recreate those historic encounters in their current forms.
Caution is necessary as expectations may need to be tempered compared to their previous matches.
After considering various factors, the options narrow down to two main choices:
Gunther and Randy Orton.
Gunther is a fascinating contender for Cena’s final opponent.
Picture this: a dominating force like Gunther as world champion facing John Cena in his last match, where Cena has the chance to break the world title-holding record with a 17th championship.
This scenario, perhaps themed as wrestling vs. sports entertainment, would not only offer a compelling storyline but also an ideal stage for a final showdown.
Gunther’s character as a wrestler who brings prestige and honor to the sport could be an excellent contrast to Cena’s sports entertainer persona. This match would have high stakes, especially if Triple H persists with his preference for long title reigns.
Gunther’s promo skills and Cena’s seasoned presence could make this showdown monumental.
Randy Orton, Cena’s long-standing rival, seems to be the most natural choice.
Despite having faced each other numerous times, the history and chemistry between the two are undeniable. If Orton is physically fit, a Cena vs. Orton match would be the perfect closing chapter for Cena’s career.
Imagine Cena facing Orton one last time, with the WWE title on the line.
Not only would it symbolize the end of an era, but it would also provide a nostalgic yet thrilling bout for fans, bringing a storyline full circle.
The potential for this match is enormous, especially considering the possibility of different storyline paths leading up to it.
While many names have been floated – from Edge to Kurt Angle to newer stars – the two prime candidates for Cena’s final WWE match are Gunther and Randy Orton. Each offers a unique and compelling storyline, with stakes high enough to make Cena’s last match an unforgettable event.

The Bloodline is set to take on Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens at WWE Money in the Bank in Toronto.
And while right now, we don’t know who the actual three members of the current four-member Bloodline will be in this match, in the six-man tag, we do sort of expect a possible combination to include Solo Sikoa.
He took things to a new level, as we know, on last week’s SmackDown, as he finally put his hands on The Wiseman Paul Heyman. It was a brutal attack from the new version of The Bloodline with Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa putting The Shield powerbomb on Paul Heyman through the table.
And now the big question is, how will Roman Reigns and everyone else who has been tied to Paul Heyman within this Bloodline story over the years respond?
Though, we may not expect Reigns to return at Money in the Bank, there are still a lot of possible ways this could go.
There is one theory that continues to be bantered about that does make a lot of sense.
I’m not saying it’s going to make everyone happy, but it would make a lot of sense, and that theory has a lot to do with what happened a year ago at Money in the Bank.
If you remember, July 1, 2023, in London, England. It was The Bloodline Civil War, where you had Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa team up to take on Jimmy and Jey Uso in a battle of who will be the ones. That was the tagline. That was sort of what was at stake.
We know there was a somewhat stunning occurrence in the finish of that match, where it was Jey Uso who pinned Roman Reigns to set up their one-on-one match at SummerSlam.
Now though, you have a very somewhat similar dynamic in play here as it is a situation where with this six-man tag, if Solo Sikoa is involved, could that mean you’re going to get a scenario where Solo Sikoa pins Cody Rhodes?
The problem, as I said, is that we don’t know who exactly is going to be on that three-man team for The Bloodline. Who’s going to be the odd man out? You would think that if you’re doing this, you want to have Solo involved, but this could all be a moot point if Solo is not involved in this match, and it is Jacob Fatu and the Tongans against the other three.
I would think that you would want to really push the fact that Solo is not afraid to get his hands dirty and really wants to get his hands on Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens for what they’ve tried to do to The Bloodline.
We saw that huge brawl to start the SmackDown show in Madison Square Garden, which led to Cody, Orton, and Owens being led away by police and all that, which kept them away from what happened at the end of the show with Paul Heyman.
But you would think that Solo would be involved here because this is where Solo can pin one of these guys, specifically Cody, to set up that one-on-one match. That seems to be the biggest indicator of where they’re headed for the SummerSlam main event is Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed title.
And that is why I would put two and two together and think that is where Roman Reigns returns to get his revenge on Solo, The New Bloodline, however they decide to do it.
But if you’re asking, does Solo really have to pin Cody for them to be able to have the main event? I think that if you tie in the past history, if we go back to last year’s Money in the Bank, it was how they set up the Jey vs. Roman match, and it would make it tying into that same sort of thread with Solo Sikoa doing the same thing here to pin Cody.
Now, there would be a backlash probably from many fans to Solo being the first person to pin Cody since he became champion.
But for the story, as I said, it would make sense.

Liv Morgan has been front and center in the Judgment Day storyline, and there is lots of speculation that she could cost Damian Priest the World title in his match with Seth Rollins at WWE Money in the Bank.
How did the added stipulation of Priest having to leave Judgment Day if he loses give Liv Morgan an opening to boot him from the group?
Does she have a secret partnership with Finn Balor?
And will Dominik Mysterio eventually give in and turn against Rhea Ripley?
These are all intriguing questions heading toward Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest for the World title at Money in the Bank in Toronto.
Liv has seemingly already recruited several current Judgment Day members to her side, including Carlito (helped him in a recent match against Dragon Lee), JD McDonagh (helped him win his first title on the WWE main roster when he became one half of the Tag Team Champions), and Balor (secret meetings and also a new tag champ).
Balor is the most interesting part of the equation, as he and Priest have history at the Money in the Bank premium live event.
At the 2023 edition of the show, it was Priest – who had just won the briefcase earlier in the night – who inadvertently distracted Balor in his World title match against Rollins. Of course, Rollins would hit a Curb Stomp for the win, and the Judgment Day tension would continue from there.
Perhaps it’s not a question of if but when Liv Morgan decides to put that reminder in Balor’s ear, which could lead to him turning on his former partner.
Is that what will cost Priest the title, whether at Money in the Bank or at SummerSlam in a match against Gunther?
These are all possibilities.
The biggest domino beyond that is the reaction from Rhea Ripley, who figures to return to a monumental pop in the future once she recovers from injury.
Both the Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley revenge tours are fascinating for different reason, but the thing they have in common is the Judgment Day.
However, which one will have Dominik in her corner when they square off once again?
It depends on whether “Dirty Dom” can ignore the advances of the current Women’s World Champion.
If he can, it should make Mami happy.
If he can’t, then he could join Balor, McDonagh, and Carlito in their support of Liv’s goals.

We knew that WWE had something big planned for SmackDown at Madison Square Garden coming off of a red-hot show in Chicago.
This took it to another level as it was the new version of The Bloodline, led by Solo Sikoa, taking out Paul Heyman and putting him through the announce table.
Yes, Paul Heyman does a stretcher job at MSG.
What a perfect way to end what was a really good SmackDown, and one that the atmosphere and the reaction when paul heyman said the words “I acknowledge that you are not my Tribal Chief,” it changed everything for The Bloodline.
Everything has now changed with the Paul Heyman attack and beatdown because we have reached the point of no return with this Bloodline story, and now we know that all the pieces are exactly sort of where they need to be to to get this in the direction that we’ve all thought would happen at some point down the road:
The Roman Reigns return, and the reuniting of The Original Bloodline, which could involve not only The Usos, but perhaps Sami Zayn as well, and then take us into a new stratosphere when it comes to the heat surrounding this particular feud right now.
We did the video looking at all the potential scenarios regarding what could they do here.
We knew they were going to do something huge, and we knew it had to be a meaningful step in the direction of getting you closer to that Roman Reigns return.
All you do is take out The Wiseman and that changes the game, and that’s what they did here. They raise the stakes, and that’s what you have to do to get it now to that point to where this is a molten hot sort of situation.
We’re all waiting to see what is going to be the reaction of the true Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, and how does he respond to The Wiseman – his confidant, the person who has been by his side throughout this entire run – how is he going to react now that they went that far to put Paul Heyman through a table?
He was stretchered out, put in the ambulance, and sent to the hospital.
Some people would say that is cinema, right?
And the execution of it, I think, was the most important part because you had kind of that tension there. Solo was getting the acknowledgment from everyone in the group to where you’ve got Tama Tonga stepping up and acknowledging him. You’ve got Tonga Loa stepping up and acknowledging him. Jacob Fatu steps up and acknowledges him.
And by the way, Jacob Fatu’s presence on screen: I know you guys saw this, but like it is incredible because he’s back there where he’s just waiting. He wants to sink his teeth in someone. Like he is pacing around back and forth and you’re like, this is the kind of guy that this group really needed to take it to the next level.
He was the perfect choice to make this group feel authentic. Jacob Fatu is the game-changer. We mentioned it, Triple H mentioned it. It’s kind of the phrase used for him.
And so, and then you had Heyman being the one that had to acknowledge Solo and then that line was just tremendous. And so, you establish what you need to establish.
As we said, going in, Solo has his group just the same way that Roman had his group. Solo is the Roman. You have Jacob Fatu in the Solo role. You’ve got Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa in The Usos role. And so it all sets up perfectly.
They didn’t need Paul Heyman anymore. They didn’t need their wise man. You know, Solo’s the wise man. He didn’t need Paul Heyman. This was the final breaking point. Solo was going to put himself in the role of Roman Reigns, and that was too far for Paul Heyman.
He could not let it get to that point. He could not acknowledge another Tribal Chief.
He could only acknowledge his, and that is the Head of the Table, Roman Reigns.

The CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre feud has gotten personal on Raw, and there are plenty of rumors regarding whether it could lead to an AJ Lee WWE return.
Is there a scenario where Lee returns to the company for the first time since 2015?
How did McIntyre stealing Punk’s bracelet add more fuel to the rumors?
And what are potential options for how WWE adds her to the feud if she does make an appearance?
There are arguments for and against a potential AJ Lee return.
By bringing family into the equation, there’s always the possibility that WWE did that for a reason. Punk’s wife is a beloved former superstar who fans have been wanting to return for years now.
What better way to do that than to have a shocking appearance during a Punk vs. McIntyre match at SummerSlam? Or perhaps she interrupts McIntyre during one of his trolling sessions on Punk.
Having AJ cost McIntyre the highly-anticipated match in some fashion would make her return even more impactful, and it would also guarantee a furthering of what has been one of WWE’s best feuds in the Triple H era thus far.
The argument against it?
Things have gotten so heated between Punk and McIntyre that having anyone else get involved may be unncessary.
This is an old school professional wrestling feud where both men’s primary motivation is to destroy the other, and even if McIntyre stealing Punk’s bracelet – with AJ and Larry the Dog’s name on it – brought family into it, many would push that Punk should be the one to settle the score.
However, this is a unique situation where Punk’s wife is so well-known that not bringing her back would disappoint many fans.
Either way, the stakes have been raised in the Punk vs. McIntyre feud.
And that should set up a must-see showdown between the two superstars when they likely go face to face in the ring at SummerSlam in Cleveland.

The 2024 edition of WWE Money in the Bank is coming up soon, and I figured it’d be fun to go back and rank my top five Money in the Bank cash-ins in WWE history.
This was not an easy exercise, given the numerous cash-ins throughout the years. All the way back to the very first one in 2006, it was a challenge to narrow it down to five and even harder to rank those.
Let’s be clear: my top three are pretty much interchangeable. I could put any of those three in the number one spot. Ultimately, I had to choose one ahead of the other two.
Let’s dive into my list and talk about the top five Money in the Bank cash-ins of all time.
At number five is Rob Van Dam cashing in on John Cena at ECW One Night Stand 2006.
This may be viewed as a non-traditional Money in the Bank cash-in by some, and you might ask why it belongs in the top five. Unlike the more spontaneous cash-ins, RVD announced ahead of time that he would challenge Cena on his home turf.
What made this special for me was the unique environment and the historical significance. John Cena in the ECW universe in 2006 was a sight to behold. The atmosphere was electric, and you had Cena interacting with the ECW crowd, which culminated in a career-defining victory for RVD.
This unconventional cash-in stood out because of the intense build-up and memorable setting, earning its spot on the list.
Dean Ambrose’s cash-in at Money in the Bank 2016 takes the number four spot.
This event featured the “Shield trifecta,” where all three Shield members held the title on the same night. Roman Reigns was the champion at the start. Seth Rollins defeated Reigns to win the title, and Ambrose, who had won the briefcase earlier in the show, cashed in on Rollins to capture the championship.
This cash-in was effective due to its presentation—Ambrose’s unexpected entrance, the echo of The Shield’s betrayal history, and the immediate turn of events where he won the championship.
It was a brilliant culmination of a long-running storyline, cementing its place as one of the top cash-ins.
Edge’s cash-in on John Cena at New Year’s Revolution 2006 was the very first in WWE history and, subjectively, one of my favorites.
After Cena had endured a grueling Elimination Chamber match, Vince McMahon announced Edge’s cash-in. Despite the exhaustion, Cena faced a fresh Edge, who seized the opportunity to win the title in a shocking twist.
This cash-in set the standard for all future Money in the Bank winners.
Edge’s opportunistic approach, combined with the unexpectedness and audience reaction, makes it an unforgettable moment that still resonates more than a decade later.
One of the most iconic moments in WWE history, Dolph Ziggler’s cash-in on Alberto Del Rio the night after WrestleMania 29 comes in at number two.
The pop from the crowd when Ziggler’s music hit was deafening and a testament to how eagerly fans awaited his rise to the top.
Ziggler’s cash-in was intense, as it wasn’t an immediate victory. Del Rio fought back, even locking in a submission hold at one point to create a suspenseful sequence. When Ziggler finally secured the win with the Zig Zag, the arena erupted.
This moment epitomized everything a Money in the Bank cash-in should be: dramatic, unexpected, and wildly satisfying.
Topping the list is Seth Rollins’ cash-in during the main event of WrestleMania 31—a moment dubbed “The Heist of the Century.”
As Roman Reigns battled Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, Rollins seized the perfect moment to insert himself into the match and secure the title by pinning Reigns.
What sets this cash-in apart is its uniqueness and magnitude. It was the only time to that point that a Money in the Bank contract was cashed in during a WrestleMania main event, amplifying the drama and significance.
Rollins’ victory amid two of WWE’s biggest superstars, with iconic commentary from Michael Cole and JBL, created an unforgettable spectacle.

Jacob Fatu has officially debuted in WWE, joining the new version of The Bloodline.
Fans were rife with speculation: Would he align with the original group or the new version?
For a long time, it seemed inevitable that he would join Solo Sikoa’s version of The Bloodline, and he did just that on this week’s edition of SmackDown.
Reports had surfaced a while back that WWE was delaying Jacob Fatu’s debut.
The rumor was that they were worried he might outshine Solo Sikoa. In only a few minutes on SmackDown, that may have been true to some fans.
