WWE Saturday Night’s Event has arrived. Who wins each of the four matches on the card?
Here are my predictions.
Jimmy Uso vs. Solo Sikoa (c) – United States Title
This was a late edition to the show, but it’s noteworthy since it’s Jimmy’s first opportunity at singles gold in his WWE career. Reminder that he signed with WWE 15 years ago. The match should establish Solo’s new title reign, and the focus then figures to turn to potential interference and post-match chaos from JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga, Jacob Fatu, Jey Uso, or Tama Tonga.
- Winner: Solo Sikoa
Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton
These two are seemingly headed towards a tag team match at SummerSlam, with McIntyre potentially teaming with Logan Paul, and Orton teaming with Jelly Roll. Enter the Ron Burgundy “that escalated quickly” meme here. McIntyre just made his return, and I like the idea of him being the next contender for either Cody Rhodes or John Cena coming out of SummerSlam.
- Winner: Drew McIntyre
Seth Rollins vs. LA Knight
I know Rollins appears to be the most logical option. He is Mr. Money in the Bank, and WWE is gearing up to make him a top champion once he cashes in. But Knight needs this win. He is 0-3 in the last three Money in the Bank matches, and his record in big time matches in recent years is even more glaring. Rollins can win or lose and still be in line for a world title run. Knight winning would put him in a spot where he could challenge Rollins after he becomes champ. Of course, the biggest question is whether Roman Reigns returns to set up a SummerSlam match with Rollins.
- Winner: LA Knight
Goldberg vs. Gunther (c) – World Heavyweight Title
Goldberg’s retirement match sets the table for two options. Either he wins the championship and they do the rematch at SummerSlam, or he loses and that’s it. Rollins is a wild card due to the cash-in possibility, which means Goldberg could win and get cashed in so that he doesn’t retire as champion. However, I don’t think Gunther losing to Goldberg is the best path forward for the ‘The Ring General’ after he just won it back from Jey.
- Winner: Gunther
