Blake’s WWE Raw 9/29/25 Review: Roman Reigns Returns

In this WWE Raw 9/29/25 review, here are five thoughts on Roman Reigns’ return, the back and forth between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, and much more.

Let’s jump in.

1. The Bloodline is back together, and the dynamic is fascinating between them.

WWE has been teasing an interesting character arc for Jey Uso, and Reigns’ return from hiatus – thanks to the combination of a beatdown from ‘The Vision’ and filming his role in the new Street Fighter movie – sets up a suspenseful path for the three original members of The Bloodline. Reigns had some motivational words for Jey. Then Jey responded that he was ready to smash them all. But Jimmy Uso looked on with a hint of concern at what Jey could become under Reigns’ leadership – the same story thread they’ve been cooking up for years. For many people, The Bloodline saga had a bit of a dip in quality prior to all of them going in different directions. But this current setup should be must-see TV.

2. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins deliver yet again.

These two are money together. We discussed in last week’s Raw review that there is so much history to explore with them, and WWE did an excellent job doing just that on this show. Rollins telling Cody that he was the “lesser of two evils” in his choice to be his shield at WrestleMania 40 was a nice touch, and so was Cody stirring up potential drama with Paul Heyman’s relationship with Brock Lesnar and whether or not Rollins approves. The Crown Jewel match between Cody and Rollins is going to be fantastic, and when it comes to long-term storytelling, these two have been the biggest winners in the Triple H era.

3. Speaking of drama and approval…

We’ve got half soap opera, half teen drama going on right now with Rhea Ripley, IYO SKY, Asuka, and Kairi Sane. I know there has been mixed reaction to the execution of the storyline – and some of the acting performances – but I’m entertained. The tag team match was inevitable, and it gives Rhea something noteworthy for Crown Jewel since it’s in Perth. Maybe it’s the wrestling fan in me, but is a SKY turn to reunite with Asuka and Sane a possibility? I don’t think so. SKY held back from any physical aggression on Asuka or Sane, but eventually, they are going to make her break. Also, Sane sitting the photo of the three of them on SKY’s lap backstage was manipulation at its finest.

4. More women’s division drama!

Another storyline that is growing on me is this whole thing between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. If we’re talking about growth on the main roster, Valkyria has to be one of the top five most improved superstars over the past year. On paper, this is a difficult storyline to pull off, but Valkyria’s reactions are a big reason why it’s working. It’s also one of those stories where you know Bayley is going to eventually lose it on her, but you don’t know her specific plan for how she’s gonna do it.

5. Dominik Mysterio is still the Intercontinental Champion.

We asked the question of whether Rusev should defeat Dominik to win the title. Some thought it was a likely possibility to set up Rusev vs. a returning Ilja Dragunov. However, ‘Dirty Dom’ retained with a mule kick right to Rusev’s balls. That came after Dominik tried to pull an Eddie Guerrero by throwing the chair to Rusev, but the referee wasn’t falling for it. There was a huge reaction from the crowd when Dominik won, and it’s obvious WWE is going to ride the hot hand with the double champ. Could Finn Balor be the person who eventually wins the title from him?
