My favorite 1990s WrestleManias!
This was an interesting decade with three era changes included, so there’s good variety to choose from.
Let’s do it.
5. WrestleMania 13 (1997). I don’t remember much about this card other than the one match that pushes this into the top five. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin might be the best match in WWE history, and that brings up an otherwise lackluster show.
4. WrestleMania VII (1991). This one is a guilty pleasure. Randy Savage vs. The Ultimate Warrior is an all-time great WWF match. The Rockers vs. Haku and Barbarian is an all-time underrated opener. I also enjoyed The British Bulldog vs. The Warlord (hoss fight!), Ted DiBiase vs. Virgil, and yes, even Hulk Hogan vs. Sgt. Slaughter. The nostalgia is real!
3. WrestleMania VIII (1992). Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart, Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair, and that one Warrior return pop. What’s not to like? The undercard also features a fun El Matador vs. Shawn Michaels match, and The Undertaker vs. Jake Roberts. I really enjoyed the Hoosier Dome atmosphere.
2. WrestleMania X (1994). The New Generation era was underway, and WrestleMania X delivered. There’s the classic Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart opener. There’s the classic Ladder Match with Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon. And then there’s Todd Pettingill! He was my guy. Of course, we also have to mention that this WrestleMania was in Madison Square Garden, which catapults it even higher.
1. WrestleMania VI (1990). This show ranked second behind WrestleMania III in my top five Golden Era PPVs list. So, it earns the top spot for the 90s. The roster was just ridiculous at this point, and Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior was the biggest match ever in this wrestling fan’s world at that time. The only thing I hated was Brutus Beefcake ending Mr. Perfect’s undefeated streak. I’m still bitter about it!
